Background:
Hartcliffe Health and Environment Action Group (HHEAG) is an established community charity working alongside the Dundry View neighbourhood in South Bristol for over 28 years. We take a community development and empowerment approach to understand the needs and activate the assets available within our community. We address current health and social issues, which contribute toward the high levels of inequality in the area. We work alongside the community to identify issues, generate solutions and coproduce action that will contribute toward improving health and wellbeing for both individuals and the wider community.  Our Board of Trustees is made up of dedicated local people, who take an active role in the organisation. Environmental sustainability and equality of opportunity underpin all our work.
HHEAG is looking for a Director who will be responsible for the overall leadership and strategic development of the organisation, managing its staff and directing operations in accordance with the policy decisions of its Board of Trustees.
The successful candidate will have experience of working at a senior level in an area related to health and wellbeing, whilst enabling a community development approach. They will also need experience of, and a commitment to, promoting equality, valuing of diversity and seeking ways to reduce inequalities.
The new Director must be able to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers and partners. Clear and accessible written, interpersonal and facilitation skills will be essential for promoting HHEAG’s work and guiding changes that will shape the charity in the future.
Proven experience of developing fundraising strategies and securing grant funding, together with a clear understanding of financial management, budget setting, monitoring and evaluation are essential.
