About HHEAG

HARTCLIFFE HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT ACTION GROUP (HHEAG) is based on an outer city housing estate in South Bristol and is recognised as an area of multiple deprivation by Bristol City Council and the Bristol NHS Primary Care Trust.

HHEAG has been active since 1990 following a survey and report asking people about their views of the area and how it affected their health and well being.

The organisation is managed by a committee of local residents who respond to emerging needs within the population which broadly have a health or environmental focus. The organisation uses a community development approach in all its work, encouraging and supporting local residents to take an active part in their community by working together to bring about change.

Over the years, HHEAG has supported groups of local residents until they have been ready to become independant e.g. The Dundry Hill Group, Hartcliffe & Withywood Mental Health Forum.

Other projects have remained under HHEAG's umbrella and have developed over 20 years.

In recent years the focus of most of our work is to encourage healtheir eating. HHEAG has worked with local residents using a holistic approach to food which has been slow and sustainable.
This work links together and enables local residents to work on food issues from the 'plot to plate'.
